Maundy Thursday in the Philippines
Maundy Thursday opens the Holy Week triduum and is a regular holiday. Many Filipinos begin the Visita Iglesia church-hopping tradition on this day, and the country's roads and airports see the year's heaviest travel.
Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday sit back-to-back — one leave day on the Wednesday or the Monday after Easter stretches the break to five or nine days.
