Good Friday is a regular holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It is the most solemn day of the Philippine Holy Week, observed with Senakulo passion plays and the Siete Palabras.

Most malls, banks and government offices close entirely on Good Friday.

Holiday pay on Good Friday

Regular holiday: covered employees receive 100% of their daily wage even when they do not work, and 200% for the first eight hours if they do. Working on a regular holiday that also falls on a rest day pays 260%.
